| I Said Yes! |
Well, I am happy to announce that after a year and a half of dating, my soul mate and very best friend officially proposed to me on Friday the 13th!
As the
Diamond Nexus Social Media Coordinator, I get to talk to couples every day who are planning their engagements and searching for the perfect
affordable engagement ring. I am a huge romantic and I honestly care about each and every customer that comes into our virtual doors on our social media sites. Every woman deserves to find a ring that feels right and looks gorgeous, symbolizing the shared love between her and her future husband.
So, when my boyfriend was ready to propose, he thought long and hard about the ring. He asked me questions here and there about styles I like and disliked. He had figured out my ring size early on and saved it in his phone for a whole year, as he prepared.
When he was ready to order the ring, he contacted one of my friends at
Diamond Nexus and they began the process of secretly making my ring. Only 3 people at work knew what he was doing and the order was placed using a fake name, so that no one would spill the beans to me.
Nancy from the
Nexus Design Studio and
Gary LaCourt, our CEO, worked together to get everything right for my engagement ring. Nancy would talk to my boyfriend often with updates and answering any questions that he might have had. When the ring was ready on Friday the 13th, they delivered the ring to him personally so that I wouldn't see anything or suspect a package being delivered.
This is my ring, the
Gallinore, made in Platinum and set with a .84 ct. Round cut center stone and 56 delicate prong set sidestones in a halo setting that compliments my hand with it's comfortable size. It has a vintage charm which I love!

So, what about the details of the love story ?
The story begins in late 2008, we met at a tattoo studio where he worked at the time. We became friends, hitting it off right away and enjoying many of the same things, like ridiculous Youtube videos, art and sushi. But though we were close, the friendship stayed completely platonic until one fateful night in the winter of 2010.
He called me out of the blue and asked me to go out on his bike for sushi. It was quite cold outside, and he rattled off a list to me of everything that I would need to stay warm for the ride. Basically, leather everything. I said ok, and when he showed up at my house, I walked outside with all of the gear on that he requested. He took one look at me and said "Wow". I literally felt butterflies.
We had an incredible "friend date", ate tons of sushi, laughed and talked for hours, closing the restaurant. We were effortless together, in everything we ever did.
Through the last two years, we had become each other's confidants, helping each other through difficult times and life's stressful challenges. This was the night that began to transition us from the friend zone, but it was going to take some time.
We hung out for a couple of months, and as our friends could see what was happening, we were both oblivious to how the other one felt. We were literally falling in love, in front of our friends and families. Finally, In January of 2011 we both realized what had happened, true love had found us. We became a couple and merged from the "friend zone" successfully.
When I called my mom and told her that we were dating, she said, "Yes, I figured that you would be already." Even my mom saw what an amazing pair we were!
It amazes me that I have found my best friend, my true love and soul mate.
The Proposal
Friday, July 13th~ I was running a fun 'Feelin' Lucky' prize giveaway on Facebook. The contest ran longer than I had accounted for, and I had arranged to meet my boyfriend for dinner. So I posted the last game and let everyone know that we would be announcing the last winner about 2 hours later. That gave me time to have a great dinner, and then do the last drawing.
Well, when we went into the restaurant, they sat us at our booth, the one we sat at the first night we were officially a couple. My boyfriend got a huge grin on his face. He told me how beautiful I looked and what a perfect day it was. I agreed, and told him how I had been having a wonderful day too. I was running an extremely fun contest at work, and was feeling equally as happy with life and being there with him.
We ordered our food and started talking some more. He seemed to have a glimmer in his eye, as he talked with me about our special booth and reminisced about our first official date and how sweet it had been. I didn't have any idea what was about to happen next.
Suddenly, he stood up. He came around to my side of the booth and took my hand. He had me stand and then he looked into my eyes lovingly. I wasn't sure what he was doing but I had a feeling and started to smile, though I felt my eyes tear up.
He then got down on one knee, while still holding my hand. He pulled out the ring, and said "So, are you going to marry me Jenny London?"
I was holding back tears, my body in shock, smiling and laughing excitedly, I said emphatically,"Yes!!!" He slid the gorgeous ring on my finger. I bent down and grabbed his face, kissing him.
He stood up and we literally didn't hear anyone around us, as we completely stayed in our own little bubble, where time stopped and it was only us. This was truly a moment that I will never forget for the rest of my life.
