The Bachelorette's New Engagement Ring

Emily Maynard Says Yes To Jef Holm!

During the season finale of the Bachelorette, Jef Holm presented Emily Maynard with a custom made Neil Lane engagement ring, estimated to have cost around $150,000! That makes this ring the most expensive ring in Bachelor/Bachelorette TV History.

The ring features a 2.5 ct. Emerald cut center and is accented by 87 smaller diamonds, round cut for more brilliance when paired with a vintage cut center like an Emerald.

Diamond Nexus knows that most people are not able to afford a ring that costs as much as some houses. Even if couples did have that kind of money, the choice to spend it all on a ring makes most people cringe. That is why we offer affordable engagement rings that have the beauty, elegance and longevity of a mined diamond ring, without the high price-tag.

Check out some of these options for rings that resemble Emily's new engagement ring~

This is the Angelix, and since it has an adjustable peghead, can be semi-customized to hold an Emerald cut center stone. The ring is found out this link: http://www.diamondnexus.com/angelix.html

This is the Maika and is shown with a 1.74 ct. Radiant cut center stone, but can be semi-customized to hold an Emerald cut stone as well. The split band gives more sparkle and a touch of a softness to the angular design.

Here is the Timeless Engagement Ring, shown with an Emerald cut center. It can hold up to a 2.62 ct. Emerald center and also comes in four other stone cuts so this design is very versatile.

Today we found this gorgeous picture from the amazing talented artists at Axioo. ((http://axioo.com/)), and we are in love! Not only with their fabulous photography and video work but of course, with this dress!

It made me think about COLOR! After all, your wedding is perfect time to embrace your most stylish self, and maybe you're just not a traditional girl- one color won't fit all! But why stop with choosing a colored gown, a stylish engagement ring or band with a colored stone can highlight your style too! I was browsing through our fan albums on Facebook and just look at some of the amazing rings our customers have dreamed up!

<---------   This stylish creation comes to us from Rebecca. She said green is her favorite color, (and it's her husbands birthstone). This ring is known as "Valencia" and it's an easy to customize eco-friendly engagement ring.

One of our designers, Mel, dreamed up this awesome vintage creation! -------------------->    She started with the Alice Engagment Ring and swapped out the clear center stone for a fabulous emerald. Then, she chose chocolate colored accent stones in the halo. This ring has a ton of vintage appeal! I love it!

<------ This awesome picture comes to us from out customer, Melissa. She says, "I love a halo-type ring and especially that DNL will let me substitute any color stone into any of their rings. I think substituting Glacial Ice for the Canary really turned out well."

This ring is called, "Fantine"
Here's the "Timeless" ring semi-customized with a pink diamond nexus stone! I love the classic look of it! Thanks Melissa for sharing your awesome photo!!!

To see more photos check us out on Facebook and browse through the albums. If you'd like more information on how to semi-customize your ring get in touch with us! Hope this gives you a little inspiration!

The Final Week of our Biggest Sale!

The Diamond Nexus Fireworks Sale is coming to a close~ With the Sale ending on July 22, 2012 there is still time to buy an affordable engagement ring or other piece of jewelry for yourself or someone special.

JLO got engaged!

I Said Yes!

Well, I am happy to announce that after a year and a half of dating, my soul mate and very best friend officially proposed to me on Friday the 13th!

As the Diamond Nexus Social Media Coordinator, I get to talk to couples every day who are planning their engagements and searching for the perfect affordable engagement ring. I am a huge romantic and I honestly care about each and every customer that comes into our virtual doors on our social media sites. Every woman deserves to find a ring that feels right and looks gorgeous, symbolizing the shared love between her and her future husband.

So, when my boyfriend was ready to propose, he thought long and hard about the ring. He asked me questions here and there about styles I like and disliked. He had figured out my ring size early on and saved it in his phone for a whole year, as he prepared.

When he was ready to order the ring, he contacted one of my friends at Diamond Nexus and they began the process of secretly making my ring. Only 3 people at work knew what he was doing and the order was placed using a fake name, so that no one would spill the beans to me.

Nancy from the Nexus Design Studio and Gary LaCourt, our CEO, worked together to get everything right for my engagement ring. Nancy would talk to my boyfriend often with updates and answering any questions that he might have had. When the ring was ready on Friday the 13th, they delivered the ring to him personally so that I wouldn't see anything or suspect a package being delivered.

This is my ring, the Gallinore, made in Platinum and set with a .84 ct.  Round cut center stone and 56 delicate prong set sidestones in a halo setting that compliments my hand with it's comfortable size. It has a vintage charm which I love!

The Gallinore Engagement Ring in Platinum

So, what about the details of the love story ?

The story begins in late 2008, we met at a tattoo studio where he worked at the time. We became friends, hitting it off right away and enjoying many of the same things, like ridiculous Youtube videos, art and sushi. But though we were close, the friendship stayed completely platonic until one fateful night in the winter of 2010.

He called me out of the blue and asked me to go out on his bike for sushi. It was quite cold outside, and he rattled off a list to me of everything that I would need to stay warm for the ride. Basically, leather everything. I said ok, and when he showed up at my house, I walked outside with all of the gear on that he requested. He took one look at me and said "Wow".  I literally felt butterflies.

We had an incredible "friend date", ate tons of sushi, laughed and  talked for hours, closing the restaurant. We were effortless together, in everything we ever did.

Through the last two years, we had become each other's confidants, helping each other through difficult times and life's stressful challenges. This was the night that began to transition us from the friend zone, but it was going to take some time.

We hung out for a couple of months, and as our friends could see what was happening, we were both oblivious to how the other one felt. We were literally falling in love, in front of our friends and families. Finally, In January of 2011 we both realized what had happened, true love had found us. We became a couple and merged from the "friend zone" successfully.

When I called my mom and told her that we were dating, she said, "Yes, I figured that you would be already." Even my mom saw what an amazing pair we were!

It amazes me that I have found my best friend, my true love and soul mate.

The Proposal

Friday, July 13th~ I was running a fun 'Feelin' Lucky' prize giveaway on Facebook. The contest ran longer than I had accounted for, and I had arranged to meet my boyfriend for dinner. So I posted the last game and let everyone know that we would be announcing the last winner about 2 hours later. That gave me time to have a great dinner, and then do the last drawing.

Well, when we went into the restaurant, they sat us at our booth, the one we sat at the first night we were officially a couple. My boyfriend got a huge grin on his face. He told me how beautiful I looked and what a perfect day it was. I agreed,  and told him how I had been having a wonderful day too. I was running an extremely fun contest at work, and was feeling equally as happy with life and being there with him.

We ordered our food and started talking some more. He seemed to have a glimmer in his eye, as he talked with me about our special booth and reminisced about our first official date and how sweet it had been. I didn't have any idea what was about to happen next.

Suddenly, he stood up. He came around to my side of the booth and took my hand. He had me stand and then he looked into my eyes lovingly. I wasn't sure what he was doing but I had a feeling and started to smile, though I felt my eyes tear up.

He then got down on one knee, while still holding my hand. He pulled out the ring, and said "So, are you going to marry me Jenny London?"

I was holding back tears, my body in shock, smiling and laughing excitedly, I said emphatically,"Yes!!!" He slid the gorgeous ring on my finger. I bent down and grabbed his face, kissing him.

He stood up and we literally didn't hear anyone around us, as we completely stayed in our own little bubble, where time stopped and it was only us. This was truly a moment that I will never forget for the rest of my life.

Guerrilla Weddings

Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum in 'The Vow'

When the movie 'The Vow' came out this past year, couples everywhere were inspired by the guerrilla style wedding Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum held at the Chicago Art Institute. Before being chased away by guards, they recited their personalized vows infront of their closest friends with a gorgeous backdrop of priceless artwork. It was intimate, romantic and completely on their own terms.

After watching the movie, it was suddenly clear that couples could indeed  have a dream wedding without spending a lifetime of savings. Keeping the moment entirely focused on what was truly important.

Intimate or elopement style weddings such as these can be completely free, or at the most, cost only the permit to gather at the location. Gardens and museums are popular choices for this style of wedding, but couples can also get creative and opt for more tricky locations like national monuments with high traffic.

Of course, if your entire family of a hundred people need to be included, then this wouldn't be the ideal choice for guaranteeing that all of those guests are comfortable.

But if you only intend on having a few close friends and family members, this could be the perfect choice for an inexpensive, indie wedding theme!

Push Presents

Lately, I have been hearing people  mentioning something called "Push Presents". I was curious about this term. What in the world have all of my pregnant girlfriends been chatting excitedly about?  So I did some investigating and found an interesting result. These are gifts that new fathers present to the new mothers when their children are born.

The idea is something that has become quite popular, with gifts usually consisting of jewelry. After all, most women would rarely pass up the opportunity to receive some new baubles. With the jewelry representing the love and appreciation that the new father has for the mother's sacrifices in carrying their child, I find the idea quite sweet.

When my first child was born, one of my relatives bought me a necklace with my child's birthstone in the center. I wore it every day and though my son is older now, I look back at the necklace and it reminds me of the excitement and joy that I had felt at the moment I saw my little boy brought into the world.

So, for a first time father, what kind of present makes a great choice? Let me show you some perfect ideas for the modern woman's push present~
