Eva was crowned Miss Venezuela in 2000, at age 17, and the next year she was third runner-up in the Miss Universe pageant in Puerto Rico. After her successful pageant experiences, Eva worked as a model, actress and news anchor. She also wrote a book, "Out of Focus", ("Fuera de Foco") dealing with her fight against breast cancer. Eva wanted to send the message of the need for cancer prevention. She had been hopeful that she would recover and had planned to write more.
Her family had said that funeral services would be held in her home country of Venezuela.
Diamond Nexus has proudly been a supporter of the fight against breast cancer and for that cause, we made the affordable Journey of Healing pendant, featuring Seven Round Brilliant cut rose colored Diamond Simulants, in the journey pendant shape that reminds us of the long battle being fought everyday and the part we can all play to win it. As part of our collective commitment to finding a cure, $100 of the sale of each pendant and chain set will go towards funding the fight against breast cancer.

Everyone here at Diamond Nexus extends our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Eva Ekvall, former Miss Venezuela. We all have known someone, family member or friend, who have been diagnosed at some point with breast cancer, some successfully beating the disease and others losing the fight. It would be our dream to see the disease have a cure, and no longer lose our friends, sisters and mothers to such a tragic illness.
