As a man that likes to eat, I know how expensive food can be! Add in a few hundred of your family and friends and you can be looking at a major bill. To help you avoid some of this massive cost, we have a few ideas that may be able to help:
Time it out: Sometimes your food budget can be reduced simply by picking what time of day you hold your reception. By choosing the early afternoon or late evening, you are setting the expectation that a meal will not be served. You can still offer some light appetizers but this will free you from having to feed every guest.
Potluck: A fun way to still offer a full meal is to ask your guests to bring a dish to pass. You can either cook the main dish and ask people to bring sides or let your guests do all of the cooking while you sit back and enjoy your day. Either way, this can be a fun way to reduce how much you have to spend on food.
Use your fingers: Finger foods are generally much less expensive but still allow you to feed your guests. The possibilities are just about endless as to what you can offer. You can keep things cool and stick with sandwiches and vegetables or go hot and throw in mini burgers and meatballs. Either way, you’ll have some good food, a relaxed atmosphere and no silverware to clean up!
