Tips to save money on your wedding decorations

Every bride wants her wedding to be as beautiful as she has pictured it since she was a little girl.  The only problem is that it can be outright expensive to spend money on lavish decorations, especially when you have to also spend money on your engagement ring, dress, reception, honeymoon and everything else.  However, we here at DNL think every bride deserves her dream wedding so here are a few tips to help you get the wedding of your dreams!

Focus your list: Pick out the one or two items that will mean the most to you and don’t worry about everything else that you're “supposed to” have.  This is your wedding, after all; you’re paying for what matters to you, not for what everyone else says you should do.  If you’ve always dreamed of having a lot of flowers, focus your money on that and forget the candles and ice sculptures and whatever else Aunt Ingrid thinks you should have.

Let it be your present: It may seem like you need those five bread makers everyone was going to buy you, but instead of asking for stuff for after the wedding, ask for stuff FOR the wedding!! You may not want to let the entire guest list know they can help pay for your wedding but asking your family or close friends for specific decorations as gifts, could allow you to have the wedding you always dreamed of without breaking the bank!

Recycle: Not only do we here at DNL love saving money, we also love helping our earth!  That is why this is our favorite option.  There are numerous sites that allow you to purchase used decorations or sell them after you have used them.  Whether they are wedding specific (recycledbride.com) or not (craigslist.org) this is a great way for you to save some coin and help our planet.

Be creative: Rummage sales and thrift stores are a great place to find creative, non-traditional decorations.  You can also look to nature to provide some beautiful do-it-yourself arrangements.  Also, don’t be afraid to look around your house for ways to repurpose everyday items.  Your imagination is your only limit!!
